Started political and Social activities while a student; was ISO General Secretary; joined Indian National Congress in 1963; was President, DCC; Member, KPCC; KPCC Executive Committee and AICC; Leader of several Trade Unions affiliated to INTUC; was Chairman, Kerala Water Authority; served as the Chairman of Committee on Estimates, and the Committee on Subordinate Legislation twice; was Secretary, Congress Parliamentary Party; was Minister for Irrigation (198-87).
Now Deputy Leader of Congress Legislature Party.
Elected to KLA in 1970 (by election in April 1970 to III KLA), 1970 (General election in October 1970 to IV KLA), 1977, 1980 and 1982.
