Entered Politics through Bala Sangam while a student; was Joint Secretary, Bala Sangam Hosdurg Taluk Committee; was the President and the Secretary, SFI Area Committee; was President, SFI District Committee and Member, State Committee (1980-87); was the President and the Secretary, DYFI Uduma Block Committee and the District Committee; was Member, DYFI State Executive Committee; was Secretary, Balasangam Rakshathikari Samithi; Elected to Uduma Grama Panchayat (19987-96); Vice President Uduma Grama Panchayat (1996-2000); Secretary, CPI(M) Uduma Area Committee (1998-2001).
