Shri Kallayil Pangan and Smt. Parukkutty born at Kunnamkulam on 22nd April, 1940; B.A., B.L; Advocate; Political and Trade Union Worker.
Entered Politics through Youth Congress; was President, Thrissur District Youth Congress (1967-70); Secretary, Thrisur D.C.C (1970-87); Member, KPCC from 1972; Member Khadi Board (1971-80); Member, KSRTC Director Board (1971-75); President, Thrissur District Co-operative Bank (1972). Member, Kerala State Co-operative Union Managing Committee (1972-84); Director, State Co-operative Bank (1974-88); B.D.C. Chairman Chowannur (1980-82); INC Parliamentary Party Secretary (1980); was Minister for Forest from 1991 to 1994.
Actively engaged in Sports and Games during School, College days. Was Basket Ball team Captain, Kerala Varma College Thrissur; Athletic and Hockey team member; also participated in
Dramas.
Received National Award from Anti-Narcotic Council of India for the performance achieved in anti-narcotic activities and preservation of forests during the tenure of Forest Minister and the Best Parliamentarian (Mathruka Samajik) Award instituted by Thrissur Cultural Centre. Now Member, KPCC Executive; President of : (1) Alagappa Textiles Workers Congress, (2) Kerala Forest Research Institute INTUC, (3) Kechery National Head Load Workers Union (4) State Coconut Farmers Federation, (5) Kecheri Priyadarshini Co-operative Hospital (6) Thrissur Taluk Co-operative Educational Society.
