Son of Shri. Krishna Pillai and
Smt. Lekshmi Amma; born at Pathanamthitta on 2nd February, 1931; M.A. (English); Educationist, Social and Political worker.
Started political life while a student through Communist Movement; became Communist Party Member in 1959; unsuccessfully contested to the KLA in 1960 as a Communist Party candidate; after the split in the communist party relinquished party membership and became sympathiser of C.P.I.(M) and continued as such till 1979; in 1980 election contested as an independent candidate; during 1982, 87,91, and 2001 elections contested as U.D.F. candidate; Played a unique part in the formation of Pathanamthitta District (1982)
Actively associated with Trade Union and socio-cultural activities; was President Pathanamthitta Plantations Labour Union and Taxi Drivers Union, was Vice President, Kollam District Karshaka Sangham; was Chairman Malanadu Trade Union Congress. Now President,
M.T.U.C.
