Malappuram Municipality in 1980; Minister for
Industries and Social Welfare from 21st
June 1991 to 22nd March 1995 in K.
Karunakaran Ministry and continued as Minister
for Industries and Municipalities from 22nd
March 1995 to 20th May 1995 in A. K.
Antony Ministry; also held the position of
Minister for Industries and Social Welfare from
May 2001 to September 2004 and from September
2004 to December 2004 in A. K. Antony and Oommen
Chandy Ministries respectively.
Held the portfolios of Industries,
Commerce, Social Welfare, Information
Technology, Haj, Wakf, Mining and Geology,
Municipalities, Local Self Government
Departments as Minister.
Was the Leader of
Muslim League Legislature Party from 1991 to May
2006 and its General Secretary from 1991 to
April 2006 and from October 2006 to 05.07.2011.
