Son of Shri Muhammad Kassim and Smt.Muhammad Ummal; born at Kaniyapuram on 14^th   March 1950; B.Sc., L.L.B; Advocate, Political and Social Worker.

            Started Political career while a student through K.S.U and served as its Unit President, Kaniyapuram Muslim High School (1967), Thumba St. Xaviers College (1969), S.N. College, Chempazhanthy (1971); Taluk Secretary, Thiruvananthapuram;   General Secretary, S.N. College Union, Chempazhanthy (1971); District Vice President (1972), District General Secretary (1973); Actively participated in the Private College Strike and expelled from the College and later joined N.S.S. College, Nilamel; Organised various trade Unions affiliated to I.N.T.U.C.; Started Youth Express Daily (1983); was President, District Youth Congress (1978) Kaniyapuram Coir Co-operative Society (1983-89), Andoorkonam Service Co-operative Bank (1993);  District President, KANFED (1985); General Secretary, D.C.C. Thiruvananthapuram; Member, Governing Body and Accounts Committee of Agricultural  University; Chairman, Councillor and Opposition Leader of Thiruvananthapuram Corporation (1995); Member, District Planning Board, Thiruvananthapuram (1995); Elected  to Kerala Sports Council from among the Members of Kerala Legislative Assembly (2008).

             Previously elected to KLA in 2001 and 2006.
