Son of Shri. T.U. Thomas and Smt. Philomina; born at Angamaly on 17^th  August 1950; BSc, L.L.B; Advocate; Social and Political Worker.

Entered politics through K.S.U; Was District Committee Member K.S.U; Convener, Youth Congress, Angamaly Constituency; ousted from Congress on account of Emergency in 1975; Was Janata Party District Committee Member in 1977, was Member, State Committee and National Council (1980); District Vice-President (1981); After the Union of Janata Party into Janata Dal in 1988 continued as District Vice-President, State Executive Committee member and National Council member; was Chairman, Angamaly Municipality (1989-90); actively participated in various Trade Union activities and office bearer of many Trade Union Organisations; was Minister for Transport from 17-8-09 in the LDF Ministry led by Shri. V.S. Achuthanandan in 2006.

An active Member of Film Society movement in Kerala; was Founder President, Angamaly Film Society; National Council Member, Federation of Film Societies of India; Director Board Member, Kerala State Film Development Corporation; noted Film Critic; write articles on films in periodicals; Author of the book “Cinemayum Rashtreeyavum”; Director of documentary film “All for God’s sake”.

Started official life as Lawyer in the High Court of Kerala (1975). Served as Special Prosecutor, Senior Government Pleader, High Court of Kerala, Central Government Standing Counsel, Legal Advisor and Standing Counsel, K.S.R.T.C.; Legal Advisor of many Nationalised Banks and Insurance Companies; Notary Public in Ernakulam District from 1989.

Previously elected  to K.L.A. in 2006.
